Croutons Without the Bag

I could almost skip the salad just to get to the croutons...

OK... Not really...

But I do love salty olive oil-y crispy bread...

And I never, ever buy them.  I take baguette that's starting to go stale, cut it in cubes, toss the cubes with some olive oil, salt and pepper, and either heat them in a skillet until browned or put them on a cookie sheet in a 350° oven for about 10-15 minutes.  Either way... they're a salad's (or a soup's) best friend.
