Even though I tend to want to pull out all of the Julia recipes I know the second the calendar says, "September," I know it's not always autumn right away.
So one night recently when I was at home, we both came, independently, to the idea of a good old-fashioned Greek salad...
Very ripe, juicy tomatoes, fresh oregano... both from our garden... good Greek feta, cukes peeled, seeded, and chopped, scallions in place of red onions, lots of salty, oily homemade croutons, some plain old sliced button mushrooms, a handful or two of peppery baby arugula... and a vinaigrette that incorporated garlic, EVOO, good vinegar, and a shot of tomato water...

A Greek Salad for Two, Maybe Even Three!
Sometimes the classics are exactly what's needed...
Even if I did tweak it a little here and there!
