Our very old friend Steve Martin...

A dear friend we've known for a very long time - Steve Martin, managing director of Arizona's brilliant theatre company ChildsPlay - was in town recently for a conference, and that seemed a perfect excuse to get him out to the house. Since he hasn't been over for dinner in many years, I thought it would be good to do a Greatest Hits Plate:
Chicken saltimbocca with a shallot, mushroom and Marsala sauce, mustard haricots verts, and wild rice pilaf. With, of course, a salad of bitter greens.
The food was simple and delicious, the wine Steve brought was tasty and free-flowing, the stories and reminiscences were wonderful... We talked and ate and drank and laughed until WAY too late in the night...
I was just glad I didn't have to get up and go back to a conference the next day!
