So... unprecedented situation... My best friend, whom I never see, was in town THREE times this past year! A situation that required lots of cooking! But on the last night of her most recent visit, we just wanted something relaxing and fun... and... you guessed it: PIZZA was the solution.
We had gotten some lovely sweet Italian sausage at Fairway... and a few creminis as well. The result was a sausage and mushroom pizza with the last of some great Teitel Brothers mozzarella [see May 30, 2012], a few canned San Marzano tomatoes crushed by hand (be careful... they spurt!), a ton of thin thin sliced garlic, and a little sprinking of Parmesan.
We had this with a simply dressed mâche salad... and talked the night away.
Good food, good wine, and best friends... Sometimes everything's perfect.
